| Some of My Views on Symbolism
I realize that there are many types of flowers, all of which have different meanings to different people in separate situations. However, I believe that the most symbolic, and best suited flower to help me show some of my views on color symbolism, is the rose.
Roses, to me, stand for love and passion. You give roses to a loved one to show them that you care. The different colors of the rose stand for the different feeling(s) you wish to portray.
Take red roses, for example, red stands for a lusty, passion and since roses already stand for love, I like to call these “passion roses”. These roses are to be given to some type of lover. Usually a girlfriend, lover, and in some cases boyfriend.
Now pink stands for a loving sort of passion, pink roses are usually given to someone that you have a lasting loving relationship. Like a wife, mother, or husband.
Yellow and orange show happiness and joy; you give yellow roses to bring a smile to someone’s face! Whether it’s just for fun, or to cheer someone up who might be feeling down or in the hospital, everyone loves yellow roses/flowers.
And the white rose, stands for purity. White roses (pure love) are best suited for special occasions. For example, weddings, for a birth in the family, or a funeral. (I like to think that if someone dies they go on to a happier place, and I would show my undying love for them by giving them a white rose.)
There are also mixed color roses. To me a mixed color rose is simply just the different mixes of feelings. Happiness and passion…. Yellow, red… An everlasting passion… Pink, red… Everlasting joy… Pink, orange or yell |
